Atmos Energy offers programs and financial incentives to help our residential and business customers reduce energy use and lower carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. In our Mississippi, Colorado and Mid-Tex divisions (Dallas customers are not eligible due to a lack of city regulatory approval), we have energy efficiency programs that offer money-saving rebates on high-efficiency natural gas appliances and weatherization materials.

While each program’s offerings are unique, they all have the same objectives: reduce energy use, save customers money on their utility bills and lower their carbon footprint. Below is a snapshot of each program (for additional information, visit atmosenergy.com/rebates).

In 2019, more than 45,000 residential and commercial customers in the Mid-Tex, Mississippi and Colorado divisions participated in these rebate programs, which account for almost $1.9 million in program expenditures. These high-efficiency appliances and weatherization measures will save approximately 125,000 dekatherms of natural gas and reduce CO2 emissions by more than 7,100 tons.

“Providing rebates to customers who install natural gas appliances and other features like smart thermostats and materials that provide maximum insulation is a prime example of Atmos Energy’s commitment to the environment and sustainable living,” says Mid-Tex Account Manager Heather Brown. “Natural gas will lower the home and business owner’s environmental footprint and help them save money and increase the value of their home or business.”

According to the American Gas Association, in 2018, natural gas utilities invested $1.47 billion in energy-efficiency programs. These investments avoided 2.25 million metric tons of CO2 emissions that year, the AGA report said.

“The programs and investments made every year by America’s natural gas utilities provide another example of how local natural gas companies work with their customers to help them save money and protect the environment,” AGA President and CEO Karen Harbert said.
