This year’s CRS Report illustrates Atmos Energy’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy and commitments as well as the progress made executing that strategy and meeting those commitments. Select highlights of the report include:
- Continued to build a workforce that reflects the 1,400 growing and unique communities we serve with 64 percent of our new hires in calendar year 2022 being minorities and women.
- Since 2017, our system modernization efforts have reduced methane emissions for EPA-reported distribution system mains and services by approximately 20 percent.
- In fiscal 2022, we invested $2.4 billion to modernize our system, replaced 900 miles of distribution and transmission pipe and 24,500 service lines. Dedicated six new zero net energy (ZNE) homes in Texas, Mississippi, and Kentucky, each of which uses high-efficiency Energy Star natural gas appliances, rooftop solar panels, and high-performance building materials. These ZNE projects, built in partnership with Habitat for Humanity, demonstrate the value and vital role that natural gas plays in helping customers reduce their carbon footprint in an affordable manner.
- Through our Fueling Safe and Thriving Communities program, helped more than 65,000 households gain access to $34 million in bill payment assistance through LIHEAP, Sharing the Warmth, and other programs.
