The Cliff Hagan Boys & Girls Club’s mission is to inspire and empower young people to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens.  Focused on assuring success is within reach for every young person who walks through their doors, Cliff Hagan Boys & Girls Club in Owensboro, Kentucky is committed to helping all members stay on track to graduate from high school, plan for the future, demonstrate good character and leadership, and live a healthy lifestyle.

Founded in 1967, Cliff Hagan Boys & Girls Club:

  • provides high-quality club programming that is safe, fun, and makes a measurable difference.

  • advocates that every community provides access to high-quality programs and experiences outside of school that equip young people with the tools to succeed.

  • recognizes that no single organization can provide everything needed to empower youth to succeed.  Public and private partnerships must be established to assure high-quality development experiences for all young people.

“We serve children from age six to 18 with innovative programs designed to empower them in school, become good citizens and lead healthy, productive lives,” said Steve Winkle, Cliff Hagan Boys & Girls Club CEO.  “From health and wellness programs to fitness activities, college preparation, and character development sessions, we help make great futures possible.”

Atmos Energy has contributed more than $75,000 over the past decade to the Cliff Hagan Boys & Girls Club fitness activities, food and student resource programs, and the annual Christmas party.

“One of the highlights of our partnership is the annual Christmas party,” said Kay Coomes, Atmos Energy manager of public affairs.  “For the past 10 years our Kentucky team members have volunteered for this memorable event to mentor and connect with club members through fun activities such as arts and crafts, games, and face-painting.  As an extra treat one of our very own, Mike Lewis, dresses up as Santa Claus and takes pictures with all those who attend.”

With more than 80 percent of the club’s members on free and reduced lunch, Atmos Energy recently committed an additional $12,750 through its Fueling Safe and Thriving Communities program to ensure that the club’s youth have regular access to healthy snacks, fresh produce, and hearty balanced meals.

“Although the world has changed, the Cliff Hagan Boys & Girls Club continues to help children through the pandemic by taking multiple approaches to help kids succeed,” said Kevin Dobbs, Atmos Energy Kentucky Mid-States Division president and former Cliff Hagan Boys & Girls Club board member. “We are proud to partner with this vital organization, and our Kentucky team is committed to doing whatever it takes to support our Owensboro children reach their full potential.”
