During the Damage Prevention Council of Texas (DPCT) virtual awards ceremony, Damage Recovery Representative Cheryl Franklin was named Northeast Regional Champion, and Compliance Analyst John Wagner the Northwest Regional Champion.

“Our award winners reflect the best in the Damage Prevention industry for the state of Texas,” said DPCT President John Sparks.

A 14-year employee, Franklin has worked with local Damage Prevention Council chapters for ten years and has served as an officer of the North Texas chapter of the DPCT for the past seven years. She has been the Homeowners Association President for her Duncanville, Texas, subdivision for nine years, producing the HOA newsletter and posting 811 videos on the HOA Facebook page.

“We have natural gas piping running through our community, and I am constantly encouraging our residents to call 811 before replacing a fence or planting a tree,” she said. “Receiving this award is humbling and awesome. I so much appreciate this recognition.”

A 36-year West Texas Division employee, Wagner oversees Regulatory Reporting, Operator Qualifications, Contractor Line Locating, and System Compliance.

He is chairman of the South Plains DPCT Chapter.

“Our teams throughout the Enterprise daily engage with excavators, public officials, and first responders to protect life and property,” Wagner said. “These efforts demonstrate Atmos Energy’s healthy culture of safety. Thanks to so many for the kind words, emails, and funnies shared with me after finding out I was the recipient of this award. It is truly gratifying!"
