DALLAS (Oct. 4, 2018) – Atmos Energy joined The Salvation Army’s efforts to enhance community welfare by presenting a $1.5 million donation to leaders of The Salvation Army DFW Metroplex Command. With this contribution, Atmos Energy became a Signature Partner of the local chapter.

“The Salvation Army is a place of hope,” said Atmos Energy Board of Directors member Bob Best, who is also a Salvation Army Advisory Board member. “This great organization has a passion for the less fortunate: caring for the poor, feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless and befriending the friendless. People who serve in The Salvation Army go into places others would prefer not to: impoverished neighborhoods, jails and prisons, hospital rooms, nursing homes and natural disaster sites.”

“This is an amazing and much-appreciated contribution to help us continue our work in the community,” added Major Jon Rich, DFW Metroplex Commander for The Salvation Army. “Each dollar will be stretched to help those battling addictions and poverty-related issues, the homeless, at-risk children and many others. The Salvation Army and Atmos Energy will work incredibly well together.”

“Joining forces with The Salvation Army was a natural decision,” said Mike Haefner, Atmos Energy President and CEO. “Its focus on addiction, homelessness and poverty allows the organization to help customers and residents in every ZIP code Atmos Energy serves.”
