About Atmos Energy
Atmos Energy Corporation, headquartered in Dallas, is one of the country's largest natural- gas-only distributors, serving about three
million natural gas distribution customers in over 1,400 communities in nine states from the Blue Ridge Mountains in the East to the
Rocky Mountains in the West. Atmos Energy also provides natural gas marketing and procurement services to industrial, commercial and
municipal customers primarily in the Midwest and Southeast and manages company-owned natural gas pipeline and storage assets,
including one of the largest intrastate natural gas pipeline systems in Texas.
Growing and Working For You
Atmos Energy has grown from 279,000 customers in 1983 mainly by acquiring utility assets. Our most recent acquisition was the distribution
and pipeline operations of TXU Gas Company, the largest natural gas distributor in Texas. Atmos Energy is also the largest natural gas
distributor in Louisiana and Mississippi and operates one of the largest intrastate natural gas pipelines in Texas. Because of the
geographical breadth of our operations, we benefit from diversity in economic conditions, weather patterns, gas supplies and regulatory climates.
Efficiency and Low Cost
Atmos Energy is known as one of the most efficient natural gas distribution companies in the industry because of constant cost management.
Employees keep productivity at industry-leading levels. In 2009, the company served 678 natural gas distribution customers per employee,
as compared with an average of 622 customers per employee served by our peer group. Our natural gas distributionís operation and
maintenance expense of $116 per customer in fiscal 2009 also was lower than our peer-group average of $225 per customer. Our efficiency
helps us better serve our customers, but never at the expense of safety or service.
Atmos Energy's nonregulated operations are ranked as one of the leading domestic mid-tier natural gas marketers. We market natural gas supplies
to more than 1,000 industrial customers and municipalities in 22 states, arrange for gas transportation and management services, manage
company-owned and contracted natural gas storage and pipeline assets and build and operate natural gas gathering systems.
